I never thought I’d be telling the story of how I met love on a dating site. It seemed unreal, too virtual. But life has a way of surprising us, and my story is the best proof.
I signed up for sofiadate.com/dating-advice/how-to-fix-a-relationship-after-trust-is-broken mostly out of curiosity. For the first few days, I simply scrolled through profiles, not really expecting anything serious. Most of the messages were the same, and I quickly lost interest. But suddenly, among dozens of standard phrases, one message appeared that immediately caught my attention: “You seem like someone I can talk to about everything. Want to give it a try?” It was simple, yet warm.
That’s how our communication with Andrey began. At first, it was short messages in the evenings, then long conversations late into the night. We discussed everything: movies, books, childhood memories, dreams of the future. With each passing day, I felt more and more that something special was developing between us.
A couple of weeks later, we decided to meet. I was very nervous, because in reality, a person can be completely different from what they appear online. But my doubts disappeared within a minute: Andrey approached me with a smile, holding my favorite latte in his hands, and said, “I remember you wrote that the day doesn’t start without coffee.” This gesture instantly broke the ice.
Our first meeting was so easy, it was as if we’d known each other our whole lives. We strolled through the park, laughed at silly jokes, took photos on benches, and then sat on the shore and simply watched the sunset. It was incredibly natural and warm.
From there, things progressed rapidly. We began seeing each other almost every day. Andrey always found time to call or text, even when he was very busy. He had a knack for surprising me: once he invited me for a walk, and when we arrived, it turned out he’d prepared a small picnic with my favorite dishes.
A few months passed, and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. He became my friend, my support, and my inspiration. I loved that with him, I could be myself, without pretending or playing roles.
One evening, as we were walking home from dinner at a restaurant, he suddenly stopped, looked at me with a serious gaze, and said, “I didn’t used to believe in online dating. But now I’m convinced that fate sometimes uses these very methods to bring people together. “Thank you for being you.” I’ve remembered those words forever.
Today, we make plans together, think about travel and the future. Sometimes we laugh about how it all began—with one simple message on a dating site. But that was the starting point of our story.
Now I know for sure: dating isn’t just texting or a virtual game. It’s an opportunity to find true love, if you only allow yourself to believe.
